Hope Gala to be a formal fundraiser

Special to The Vindicator AWESOME AUCTION: Bids on the treasure trove of donated items, pictured above, will be accepted during live, silent and Chinese auctions that will take place during the annual Hope Gala on Nov. 7 at Mr. Anthony’s in Boardman. The event will also include a gourmet dinner and live entertainment, and proceeds will benefit low income and underserved dindividuals in the tri-county area.

GREENFORD — Big Reach Center of Hope (a ministry of Greenford Christian Church) will sponsor its annual Hope Gala at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 7 at Mr. Anthony’s in Boardman. The formal fundraiser will feature a gourmet dinner and live entertainment.

There will be live, silent and Chinese auctions of donated items such as a 14-carat yellow gold ladies ruby and diamond ring; a San Francisco 49ers trip, which includes round trip airfare for two, two nights in a team hotel, two pregame passes and two game tickets to the Dec. 20th game; two tickets for the Ohio State vs. Iowa game on Nov. 14; and a dinner date with Mark Monstrola, meteorologist at WFMJ TV-21, including a round trip FAB Limo ride, and dinner for two at Antone’s Banquet Center in Boardman. Also auctioned will be a $1,000 Eastwood Mall shopping spree, a $1,200 Diamond Journey pendant necklace; overnight packages to Detroit, Port Huron, Cleveland and Pittsburgh; baskets; and gift certificates.

Mike Case of WFMJ TV-21 will serve as auctioneer, and Cindy Matthews, also of WFMJ, will be the host. Music will be by Back Beat.

The Big Reach Center of Hope provides resources and opportunities to help low income and underserved individuals in the tri-county area. Since its inception in 2004, it has reached out to thousands of families by supplying free groceries, household items clothing and toys. In partnership with Operation Blessing, it is now distributing food and nonfood items, at no cost, to approximately 30 area pantries in Columbiana, Mahoning and Stark counties.
