Doctor in Jackson case says he can’t pay bills

LAS VEGAS — The doctor being investigated in Michael Jackson’s death told a court he can’t afford to pay $13,000 in child support and other debts because he was forced to close his medical practice after physical threats against him and his staff, according to court documents obtained Friday.

A family court in Las Vegas set a Nov. 16 hearing to consider a recommendation that Dr. Conrad Murray be arrested for not appearing in court this month to explain the unpaid support.

Murray’s lawyer Chris Aaron said in court documents that the 56-year-old doctor didn’t receive notice of the hearing.

Charges against West, road manager dismissed

LOS ANGELES — A court commissioner has dismissed criminal charges against Kanye West and his road manager stemming from their scuffle with photographers last year.

The case was filed after West and his manager were arrested Sept. 11, 2008, after an altercation with two photographers at Los Angeles International Airport.

The photographers and the rapper have reached civil settlements over the case, which resulted in a still camera and a video camera being broken.

West’s attorney, Blair Berk, successfully argued the case should be dismissed because of the agreement and that California law allows for certain criminal cases to be settled out of court.
