“The Black Cat,” based on Edgar Allan Poe’s short story, continues its run at the Victorian Players Theatre, 702 Mahoning Ave. (across from Flynn’s Tires), Youngstown. Poobah, fronted by Youngstown native Jim Gustafson, has been churning out psych-rock for a few decades now and seems to be getting its due. The band recently signed to Texas-based Rockadrome Records, which was then purchased by major-label Warner Bros. The band will be featured in an upcoming issue of Guitar World magazine and also has an interview posted at www.goldminemag.com, Web site for the national music-collectors magazine. An exhibition of quilts by Ohio artist Nancy Crow can be seen at the Trumbull Branch of the Butler Institute of American Art, Howland, through Jan. 10. At the main branch, 524 Wick Ave., Youngstown, check out the exhibition by Mark Sijan, America’s premiere hyper-realism sculptor. More than one person has been caught talking to one of Sijan’s life-size sculptures of people, because they are so real looking. Sijan’s last exhibition at the Butler six years ago was a hit with families.

Rhythm In Shoes has been mixing American styles of dance and music for 20-some years but will disband at the end of this season. The Mahoning Valley will get one last chance to see the troupe at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Packard Music Hall in Warren. Call (330) 399-4885.
