Rock festival at U-PIE will benefit hospital

YOUNGSTOWN — University Pizzeria and Italian Eatery, 133 Lincoln Ave., will host Oktoberfest, an all-day music, food and beer festival to benefit Akron Children’s Hospital on Saturday beginning at 2 p.m.

The event will feature a number of bands, including The Kellys, Grand Fury, Fillmore Jive, The Calamity, Away From Eden, the Boondocks, Raise the Cannon, Magma, the Heights Band, Captain Braskey and Lethal FX.

Admission is $5 to the all-ages show, which is being produced by University Pizzeria, Mr. Kyle and Viking Jim.

Salem theater presents comedy show fundraiser

SALEM — “Attack of the 50 and 3‚Ñ4 Foot Monster,” Salem Community Theatre’s fall fundraiser, will be at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the theater, 490 E. State St.

Magician/comedian Jason Alan will host the show, which pays tribute to the Halloween season with new skits such as “A Redneck Alien Encounter,” “Attack of the Earth Women from Wisconsin,” “Professor Gangreen’s Carnival of the Sick and Twisted,” “A Slumber Party Massacre” and the attack on Salem by the dreaded 50 3‚Ñ4-foot monster. The show will also see the return of audience favorites “JAWS II: the return of Hooper” and Scabs the Clown.

Discussion will follow ‘Black Cat’ performance

YOUNGSTOWN — The Youngstown Area Community Theatre Alliance will present a Downstage Dialogue after Friday’s performance of “The Black Cat” at Victorian Players Theatre, 702 Mahoning Ave. Immediately after the performance, the actors will return to the stage and have a brief chat session. Audience members can ask questions about the production and Edgar Allan Poe and his macabre story about the vengeance of a cat in the original story and the stage production.

Cabaret show at Covelli is a tribute to Dean Martin

YOUNGSTOWN — “That’s Amore: A Celebration of Dean Martin” will come to Covelli Centre at 7 p.m. Dec. 1. The show stars Mark Adams as Dean Martin.
