Arson suspected in blaze on the North Side

Above, a once beautiful and stately home in Youngstown burned to the ground. Firefighters were called to 259 Park Ave. on the city’s North Side at 4:51 a.m. Tuesday to battle a fire that had been raging at the large mansion-style home. Battalion Chief Robert Hian said the house had been vacant for some time. The house collapsed as firefighters battled the blaze. At right, firefighters hose down the structure’s remains. Hian said the fire is still under investigation, but arson is a strong possibility. The total loss of the house is estimated at $75,000. No one was injured.
