Mooney still atop Division 3 AP poll

The Associated Press high school football poll remained status quo for the majority of the Valley’s elite teams.

Five teams stayed in the same spot this week, including Cardinal Mooney (8-0) and Poland (7-1) in Division III, Girard (8-0) in Div. IV, Crestview (8-0) in Div. V and McDonald (8-0) in Div. VI.

Mooney is the top-ranked team in Div. III, followed by Steubenville (8-0) and Poland (7-1), which stayed at No. 3 despite losing to Big Red, 24-13. Cincinnati Wyoming and Napoleon round out the top five.

Hubbard remained No. 13 in Div. III.

Girard stayed at No. 5 after defeating Campbell Memorial 40-7. The Indians trail Kettering Alter, Amanda-Clearcreek, Chagrin Falls and Genoa Area in Div. IV.

Lakeview (6-2) dropped two spots to No. 14 despite defeating Jefferson Area 34-13.

Crestview stayed at No. 4 in Div. V, behind Hamler Patrick Henry, Coldwater and Cuyahoga Heights. Anna is No. 5.

Ursuline fell one spot to No. 14 despite defeating Akron Buchtel 35-0, and East Palestine (7-1) remained tied for No. 17.

McDonald remained at No. 7 in Div. VI despite beating then-No. 10 Western Reserve 24-11.

McDonald trails Delphos St. John’s, Lockland, Bucyrus Wynford, Ada, Norwalk St. Paul and Carey.

Western Reserve (7-1) fell one spot to No. 11 and Warren JFK (6-2) moved up two spots to No. 10.

Howland (7-1) fell two spots in Div. II to No. 14 despite beating Niles 48-3, and Canfield (7-1) dropped from No. 13 to No. 15 despite beating Chaney 41-14.

Cleveland St. Ignatius continues to lead the Div. I voting, followed by Cincinnati Moeller, Cincinnati St. Xavier, Dublin Coffman and Solon.

In Div. II, Louisville continues as the top vote-getter, followed by Cincinnati Turpin.
