Teen librarian receives award

WARREN — The awards and honors committee of the Ohio Library Council presented the 2009 Diana Vescelius Memorial Award to Sarah Pillivant, teen librarian at Warren-Trumbull County Public Library, at the Sept. 10 meeting of the board of trustees at the library.

During the time Pillivant has been at the library, teen attendance rates have skyrocketed. She has developed a number of innovative programs including an anime film series, open mike poetry night, and HTML training, and she is highly regarded for her professionalism when dealing with patron concerns.

The award recognizes library leaders of tomorrow who show outstanding commitment to the profession, including advocacy in areas of intellectual freedom, outreach and/or library innovation and expansion of services.
