Receives Eagle award

William N. Wainio, son of Anthony and Cyndi Wainio of Boardman, has received his Eagle Scout Award at a recent court-of-honor ceremony. A reception in his honor was at Boardman United Methodist Church’s Fellowship Hall.

He is a member of Western Reserve Council, Boy Scouts of America Troop 46, with Scoutmaster Eric Grabman.

William earned both the Ad Altare Dei and Pope Pius XII religious awards and also serves as troop chaplain. He is a Boy Scout representative for the Mahoning County Junior Fair Board, where he was recently a finalist for Outstanding Youth.

For his Eagle Scout service project, William enhanced a meditation garden at St. Luke Church, where he is a member. He built a trellis, added mulch, flower beds and a new statue of the Immaculate Conception.

William is a junior at Ursuline High School, where he is a member of the marching and concert bands, liturgy committee and sacristan.
