Family gathers in Las Vegas for Malvasi 50th

NILES ­ Mr. and Mrs. Michael Malvasi, 1505 Bellevue Drive, were honored by family members as they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Oct. 17 in Las Vegas, where they spent their honeymoon.

The couple were united in marriage on that date in 1959 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Youngstown, where they are members.

Hosts for an anniversary celebration on Oct. 11 at their home, and joining them in Las Vegas, were their children and their spouses, Michael and Missy Malvasi of Canfield, Melessa and Frank Scattino of Girard, and Dr. Phillip and Pam Malvasi and Ann Marie and Michael Thigpen, all of Howland. There are 11 grandchildren in the family.

Mr. Malvasi served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He is a self-employed businessman. His wife, the former Margaret Paulette, is a homemaker.
