Man charged with rape, assault and kidnapping

YOUNGSTOWN — A Mahoning County grand jury this week indicted 27 people, including a man accused of assault, kidnapping and rape.

Frank Lee Gardner, 21, of Dogwood Lane, has been charged with one count of felonious assault, three counts of kidnapping and one count of rape. He is in the county jail pending his arraignment in common pleas court.

According to the indictment, Gardner moved a woman by force or threat from the place where she was situated for sexual purposes, forcing her to commit sexual acts also by force or threat. The indictment says Gardner also held the woman for ransom or as a shield or hostage.

Gardner also is said to have used a gun while committing the offense, leading to a gun specification on the charges.

Also indicted by the grand jury were:

UJordan Kennedy, 18, of East Marion Avenue, felonious assault, abduction, domestic violence, aggravated trafficking in marijuana and possession of cocaine.

UDean Miller, 48, of Clay Street, Niles, driving while under the influence of alcohol.

UKayla D. Dempsey, 20, of North Edgehill Road, Austintown, theft.

UAlisha D. Williams, 34, Lyden Street, possession of cocaine and possession of heroin.

UTyrell Williamson, 31, of West Glenaven Avenue, illegal possession of a weapon and carrying concealed weapons.

UJoseph M. Hartline, 25, of Webb Avenue, Alliance, possession of drugs.

UElijah Johnson, 21, of Pasadena Avenue, possession of heroin.

UPaul Henderson, 25, of Southern Boulevard, illegal possession of a weapon and improperly handling a firearm in a motor vehicle.

UTakesha N. Hopkins, 30, of Erie Street, Niles, trafficking in marijuana, possession of criminal tools, permitting drug abuse and possession of marijuana.

UMichael A. Fernandez, 47, of Fourth Street, Warren, possession of cocaine.

UTyler Pearce, 23, of North Broad Street, Canfield, theft.

UJoseph Moreland, 27, of Leighton Avenue, Boardman, trafficking in marijuana, trafficking in heroin, possession of drugs and illegal possession of a weapon.

UEric Latimer, 20, of North Hazelwood Avenue, receiving stolen property.

URonelle S. Williams, 30, of Way Avenue, Cleveland, theft.

UPhillip A. Bannarn, 30, of Idora Avenue, theft.

UEdwin Lowmack, 22, of Forest-view Drive, forgery.
