Pa. AG says diploma mill head still owes $130K

ERIE, Pa. (AP) — A man who state prosecutors say once ran an online diploma mill out of his Erie home still owes more than $130,000 in civil penalties.

The attorney general has filed court papers in Erie County seeking to collect the money from Dennis Globosky, who has yet to be located but whose last known address was in Erie.

Under a 2007 settlement, Globosky agreed to stop operating his “University of Berkley” in Pennsylvania. Prosecutors alleged Globosky made $34 million by selling degrees costing between $2,065 and $4,995 to people who didn’t take any classes.

Globosky argued that his students completed a curriculum and were awarded the degrees based on life experience. Nevertheless, he agreed to stop doing business in Pennsylvania and pay civil penalties.
