Traficant hosts Nugent

YOUNGSTOWN — Former congressman James A. Traficant Jr. will have a special guest today when he guest-hosts Dan Rivers’ show on WKBN 570-AM from 10 a.m. until noon.

Rock guitarist Ted Nugent will join the show via phone from his Texas home. Nugent is an outspoken conservative known for his pro-National Rifle Association and pro-hunting views.

He’s “very outspoken when it comes to other issues that hit close to home, including politics, the Second Amendment and crime,” according to Nugent’s own Web site, www.tednugent.com.

Peace Award Banquet

YOUNGSTOWN — The Mahoning Valley Task Force on Crime and Violence Prevention will have its 13th annual Peace Award Banquet at 6 p.m. Monday in the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish Hall, 343 Via Mount Carmel. Keynote speaker is Judge R. Scott Krichbaum of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court. The banquet also will feature several awards given to officers and groups from around the area. Tickets to the banquet are $25.

New Dem headquarters

YOUNGSTOWN — The public is invited to a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Mahoning County Democratic Party’s new headquarters.

The ceremony will begin at 5 p.m. Sunday with the ribbon- cutting at 5:30 at the new headquarters located in the Mahoning Plaza on Meridian Road. A buffet and refreshments will be served immediately after at 6 p.m.

The event is open to the public and is free of charge.
