GIRARD, HUBBARD AND LIBERTY POLICE CALLS
A summary of recent criminal activity in Girard, Hubbard and Liberty:
GIRARD
Oct. 12
Breaking and entering: Took place in the 400 block of Washington Avenue. Stolen were two gas-powered compressors, a high-pressure compressor and a metal chain, for an estimated loss of $4,250.
Theft/damage: A vehicle’s driver’s-side window was broken in the 100 block of East Howard Street before a global-positioning-system device was stolen.
Theft: Twenty compact discs and personal papers were removed from a car on East Second Street.
Menacing: A Patricia Drive woman said her former boyfriend pounded on her door and had made harassing calls after they separated.
Oct. 13
Arrests: After responding to a disturbance at a South Market Street business, police charged a mother and daughter with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
Attempted breaking and entering: A rear door and lock were damaged at a Morris Avenue apartment.
Menacing: A North Avenue man reported receiving threatening text messages.
Oct. 14
Criminal damaging: All the tires on a vehicle were slashed in the 200 block of Elruth Court.
HUBBARD
Oct. 9
Theft: A chair was stolen from a residence in the 500 block of Gladys Street.
Theft: Someone took a cigarette-disposal receptacle from a North Main Street business.
Oct. 10
Criminal damaging: A man accused his estranged wife of kicking in a window at his West Water Street home.
Assault: Authorities with the Trumbull County Juvenile Justice Center were to take custody of a 13-year-old girl accused of assaulting her father at their Moore Street residence.
Menacing: A woman told police a man had threatened to toss a garbage can through her car window in the 600 block of North Main Street.
Oct. 12
Burglary: To a residence in the 30 block of Jackson Street.
Oct. 13
Auto theft: A Cadillac was stolen in the 200 block of Jacobs Road.
Arrest: The Girard Municipal Court issued a warrant against a Hubbard man accused of failing to appear for a preliminary hearing related to felony charges of theft and vandalism.
LIBERTY
Oct. 9
Drugs: A Warren man, 40, faced charges of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia after being pulled over near Interstate 80. Two bags of suspected marijuana were in a tin can, officers said.
Burglary: Occurred at an apartment in the 2900 block of Oakland Avenue via a rear window. A 32-inch flat-screen TV and a DVD player were removed.
Arrest: Struthers authorities handed to Liberty police a 40-year-old Struthers woman wanted on an outstanding warrant charging her with theft.
Theft by deception: An elderly Chrysann Drive man told police he hired and gave a $1,525 check to a contractor for material to install windows but that the contractor failed to perform the work.
Criminal damaging: Someone damaged a heating and air-conditioning unit on the roof of Logan Way church.
Oct. 10
Drugs: A traffic stop near Hadley Avenue led to a 39-year-old Niles man’s being charged with drug abuse and possession of drug paraphernalia when, police said, suspected crack pipes and suspected marijuana were found. Also taken into custody was a Youngstown man, 39, wanted on a warrant.
Counterfeit: A pharmacist at Giant Eagle, 4700 Belmont Ave., came across a phony $10 bill.
Breaking and entering: A large rock was used to smash a front window at Aaron’s Sales & Lease Inc., 3163 Belmont Ave. Property, including a laptop computer, was removed from a display case.
Oct. 11
Breaking and entering: Someone pried open a door to a concession stand on Church Hill-Hubbard Road, then took about $50 worth of candy.
Theft: Twenty-five Nintendo games, a laptop computer and a digital camera were stolen from a residence in the 3100 block of Hadley Avenue.
Theft: A $130 AM/FM/CD player was removed from a car in the 10 block of Louise Lane.
Oct. 12
Arrest: Austintown police handed a Youngstown woman, 20, to Liberty authorities. She was wanted on a warrant.
Theft by deception: The administrator of a deceased Fifth Avenue woman’s estate discovered two unauthorized electronic withdrawals totaling $1,830 had been made to the account.
Theft/criminal damaging: A GPS unit was stolen from a vehicle in the 1000 block of Colonial Drive after someone broke a window.
Burglary: To a home in the 3400 block of Denver Drive through a side door. The burglar rummaged through several drawers and closets before taking a sample bottle of cologne.
Assault: A Trumbull Court woman reported her former boyfriend punched her repeatedly before he fled.
Drugs: Authorities stopped a 42-year-old Boardman man near Logan Gate Road and charged him with trafficking in cocaine after a police canine detected contraband. A bag containing nine individually wrapped rocks of suspected crack cocaine as well as 13 rocks of suspected crack were found, a report showed.
