Youngstown and Girard ink deal for site eyed by V and M Star

YOUNGSTOWN — Officials from Youngstown and Girard gathered at the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber offices this morning to sign an agreement clearing the way for V&M Star Steel to put a $1 billion expansion along the Youngstown/Girard border.

The company has yet to commit to the site, indicating that the Youngstown location is one of several possible locations for the project.

The Cooperative/Joint Economic Development Zone Agreement provides for about $20 million in site improvements for the project and spells out how the two municipalities will split the tax revenue resulting from the infrastructure improvements as well as the V&M expansion.
