Youngstown Board of Control approves V&M Star Steel expansion plan
YOUNGSTOWN — The deal is done. Youngstown’s Controlling Board voted today to approve an agreement that clears the way for V&M Star Steel to expand its Youngstown’s operations.
The agreement between Youngstown and the city of Girard transfers 191 acres from Girard to Youngstown and spells out how revenue from the proposed V&M expansion will be shared by the two cities.
It is now up to V&M to determine if it will put a $970 million expansion here or elsewhere. The decision is expected by the end of the year. Read more about this story in Wednesday’s Vindicator.
