Poll has ITCL rivals in D-6


McDonald is No. 7 and Western Reserve is No. 10 in the Division VI rankings.

McDonald and Western Reserve, who have a showdown scheduled on Friday night in the Inter Tri-County League Tier Two, are ranked No. 7 and No. 10, respectively, in Division VI in this week’s Associated Press high school football poll.

Both teams are 7-0. McDonald remained in seventh place in the poll, while Western Reserve moved up from No. 12.

Most of the poll remained status quo for area teams.

Cardinal Mooney (7-0) and Poland (7-0) remained No. 1 and No. 3, respectively, in the Div. III.

They are sandwiched around Steubenville (7-0), which plays host to Poland on Friday night.

Mooney travels to Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary on Friday. The Irish (5-2) are ranked No. 11 in Div. III, falling out of the top 10 after losing to Walsh Jesuit.

Also staying in the same spot was Girard, in Div. IV. The Indians (7-0) are again at No. 5 heading into their All-American Conference Blue Tier showdown at Arrowhead Stadium on Friday night against Campbell Memorial.

Lakeview (5-2) appeared in the Div. IV poll this week, at No. 12.

In Div. V, Crestview moved up two spots to No. 4, while Ursuline and East Palestine curiously dropped despite winning.

Ursuline (4-2) fell from No. 12 to No. 13, and East Palestine dropped from No. 11 to No. 17.

Also, in Div. II, Howland (6-1) fell from No. 6 to No. 11 after losing to Poland, 17-0, while Canfield (6-1) remained at No. 13.

Cleveland St. Ignatius (7-0) remained No. 1 in Div. I after edging Warren Harding 10-7 last Saturday.

Warren JFK (5-2) moved into the poll in Div. VI. The Eagles are tied for No. 12.

All the other leaders remained the same, in addition to Mooney and St. Ignatius — Louisville in Div. II, Kettering Alter in Div. IV, Coldwater in Div. V and Delphos St. John’s in Div. VI.
