Man treated for gunshot to hand
STAFF REPORT
KINSMAN — A 53-year-old Perkins-Greenville Road man was treated at St. Elizabeth Health Center after being shot in the hand in the doorway of his home.
The man said he heard a knock on the window or back door of his home about 3:20 a.m. Sunday. He went to the front door, seeing a man standing outside with his back turned, wearing a dark hoodie pulled up and tied.
When the victim tried to open the front door, thinking it was someone he knew, the man on the porch turned around and fired a gun twice at the door handle, hitting the victim in the hand two times.
The victim went back inside the house, where he could get behind a door with a dead bolt, he told deputies with the Trumbull County Sheriff’s Department.
When deputies arrived, they found the victim in a chair in his living room with blood on the floor throughout the home.
A deputy later found two 16-gauge shotgun shells in front of the house.
