Community college plans expansion

HERMITAGE, Pa. — Butler County Community College plans to expand its Linden Pointe location in the city.
The Hermitage Planning Commission and city board of commissioners approved the building plans in late September.
The college now occupies the bottom floor of an 8,000-square-foot building in the Linden Pointe Business Campus on state Route 18. It serves 300 students.
The college plans to own and occupy the entire building and add 11,100 square feet.
The new space will include five more classrooms, two computer labs, one science lab and a student lounge. Additional land will be acquired for 300 parking spaces.
The BC3 Education Foundation will acquire the building owned now by Subscribers Encouraging Economic Development Inc.
Construction on the addition will begin next spring. The new facility will be ready for classes Jan. 15, 2011. Classes will meet in the spring during construction.
