School to discuss Ohio boy's swine-flu death

WHITEHALL, Ohio (AP) — His school says it will talk with other students about the 14-year-old who last week became Ohio’s first child death from swine flu.

Jon Fowler died Thursday night at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus.

He attended Holy Spirit Elementary School in the Columbus suburb of Whitehall, where students were off last Thursday and Friday because of a state convention for Catholic educators. On its Web site, the school says it was to discuss the boy’s death with classmates today and watch for students who may need additional support.

Four adults also have died in Ohio from swine flu.

The state last week received its first order of 61,500 doses of swine flu nasal spray vaccine. The Ohio Department of Health has since ordered an additional 152,000 doses.
