Pickup of brush planned for Howland Township

HOWLAND — The township has announced its fall schedule to pick up excess limbs and branches.

The township will be sectioned into two halves, and only one pass will be made on each street. Residents are to have everything out before the Monday that begins the pickup for your side of the township.

East side: Streets and areas east of Mosquito Creek starts Oct. 19.

West side: All streets off North Road, including North Road, starts: Nov. 2.

Piles must be placed at the edge of the resident’s property, with the cut end facing the street. Only trimmed or pruned, root-free branches, up to 6 inches in diameter and wood pile should be no larger than 4 feet by 8 feet. No firewood, large logs or complete trees will be picked up.

Organizations to have ‘Holy Ground Initiative’

WARREN — The South West Neighborhood Association, ACTION of Youngstown and local churches will have a “Holy Ground Initiative” at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the empty lot at Fourth Street and Highland Avenue Southwest.

The groups will gather for a time of prayer to ask for divine intervention and to reclaim the southwest side for the Lord. All are invited.

The South West Neighbor-hood Association meets monthly at New Freedom Missionary Baptist Church, 1590 Tod Ave S.W. ACTION (Alliance for Congregational Transformation Influencing Our Neighborhoods) is a faith-based organization committed to improving the quality of life in the Mahoning Valley.

Open forum scheduled

YOUNGSTOWN — Police Chief Jimmy Hughes, Prosecutor Jay Macejko, and police Juvenile Officer Wess Gill will be at the Westside Citizens Coalition meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the ITAM on Meridian Road. There will be an open forum with questions and answers.

Cemetery decorations

EAST PALESTINE — All flowers and decorations at Glenview Cemetery must be removed by Thursday or they will be discarded. Fall and winter decorations may be put on the graves as of Nov. 1. Call (330) 426-4367, ext. 19, for cemetery information.
