Big band concert planned as fundraiser for Angels for Animals and Rescue Mission

YOUNGSTOWN — A charity concert planned for Oct. 18 at Stambaugh Auditorium on Fifth Avenue will benefit the Rescue Mission of Mahoning Valley and Angels for Animals.
The concert will feature Ron Chick’s Friends All Star Alumni Big Band and include a tribute to Frank Sinatra, vocals by Bobby Remp and a guest appearance by Rachell Joy and Brian Palumbo.
The 22-piece band will play the memorable Idora Park Ballroom music reminiscent of performances by Count Basie, Stan Kenton, Maynard Ferguson, Buddy Rich, Sinatra and Natalie Cole.
The band comprises alumni from the bands of Ferguson, Rich, Tommy Dorsey, Glenn Miller, Jimmy Dorsey, Artie Shaw, Gene Krupa and the Navy Band of Washington.
Doors will open at 5:30 p.m., and after the introductions at 6:45, the concert will be from 7 to 10 p.m. •
