Ewing helps lead Reserve past J-M
BERLIN CENTER — It was the Shane Ewing show once again, as the senior quarterback ran 12 times for 136 yards and four touchdowns and completed 22 of 31 passes for 217 yards and two TDs to lead Western Reserve past Jackson-Milton 60-8 in an Inter Tri-County League Tier Two game.
Riley Sheptock caught nine passes for 97 yards and a TD, Clayton Hull added eight catches for 85 yards and a score and Dave Duncan caught six passes for 68 yards.
Eddie Newhouse rushed nine times for 80 yards for the Blue Devils (7-0, 4-0 ITCL Tier Two), who now face back-to-back road games against McDonald and Leetonia.
Brian Morrison had a 2-yard TD run and a conversion for Jackson-Milton (1-6, 0-4).
McDonald 42, Sebring 0
McDONALD — Nick Cupan ran six times for 135 yards and four TDs to lead McDonald (7-0, 4-0 ITCL Tier Two).
Zach Tura added six carries for 108 yards and two TDs, while Devin Bansberg had 35 yards rushing and 35 receiving.
Dakota Wagner ran for 79 yards and threw for 15 to lead Sebring (1-6, 0-4).
Wellsville 18, Leetonia 0
WELLSVILLE — It wasn’t a good night for passing as Wellsville (5-2, 2-2 ITCL Tier One) beat Leetonia (5-2, 3-1).
Wellsville’s Chad Elliot caught the only completion for the Tigers, but it was a big one as it put Wellsville ahead early in the first quarter. Jeremy Carter scored in the right before the half to put Wellsville up 12-0. Elliot scored late in the fourth quarter on a 19 yard interception return.
Leetonia quarterbacks went 11-22 passing with 4 interceptions.
East Palestine 41, Lisbon 7
EAST PALESTINE —Shane Peterson ran four times for 99 yards and a touchdown and threw for 115 yards and a TD to lead East Palestine (6-1, 3-1 ITCL Tier One), which entered the game third in the Division V, Region 17 computer ratings and 11th in the statewide AP poll.
Corey Barnhouse added 81 yards on five carries with two TDs and Matt Thomas had five carries for 80 yards and a touchdown.
Zack Barnes had a 2-yard TD run to lead Lisbon (0-7, 0-4).
United 11, Mineral Ridge 10
HANOVERTON — Mineral Ridge (3-3, 2-1 ITCL Tier One) got up by 10 before giving up the final 11 points to United (2-4, 1-2 ITCL).
Mineral Ridge kicker Mike Keleman booted a 29-yard field goal to get the scoring started for the Rams three minutes into the game.
Running back Kyle Skiba had a 10-yard touchdown just before halftime, but United kicker Steve Baker hit a 34-yard field goal to keep it a one score game.
United’s Josh McLaughlin rushed for 75 yards on 14 carries, and threw for 267 yards and a touchdown.
McLaughlin’s 15-yard touchdown pass went to Ryan Powell with 8:45 left in the third quarter. United tried for a two-point conversion to go up by one, but failed.
United’s defense came up big in the fourth quarter as it was able to get a safety and come out as victors on its home turf.
