Super Nationals to return to Canfield Fairgrounds
SALEM — The Stadium GM Superstore Steel Valley Super Nationals will return to the Canfield Fairgrounds next year.
Ward Core Promotions in Austintown, which specializes in automotive events, announced a multiyear commitment Wednesday.
The 2010 event will celebrate the event’s first return in five years on the weekend of June 25-27. The event had been at Quaker CIty Raceway near Salem.
Super Nats promoter Corey Ward said: “The Mahoning Valley is a hot spot for motor enthusiasts, and Canfield is no stranger to hosting this premier automotive event. We are pleased to return the event to Canfield.”
Ward said moving back to the fairgrounds means there will be ample space for cars and motorcycles to be displayed.
Ward expects to draw thousands of people, along with more than 2,000 hot rods, street cars, motorcycles and muscle cars, plus distributors, retailers and repair businesses. He said there will be a burnout competition. There also will be a Miss Super Nationals contest, a family fun zone and various entertainment.
Ward expects to be at the fairgrounds for at least five years.
Kathy Miller, a Boardman Township trustee, said, “The Steel Valley Super Nationals provide an economic boost for our area hotels, restaurants, retail shops and recreation, but more importantly, we get to showcase our communities.”
