Pa. Senate mulls budget-bill stalemate's for 100th day
HARRISBURG (AP) — The state Senate is returning to the Capitol on the 100th day of Pennsylvania’s budget stalemate, and action on two major bills is possible.
The Senate’s voting session today could include a vote on the $27.8 billion appropriations bill that came over from the House 12 hours ago.
Senate Majority Leader Dominic Pileggi says, however, the chamber must first look at the changes made by the House before taking action.
In addition, the Senate may advance a bill to legalize and tax table games at the state’s slot-machine casinos.
Legalizing table games is a key element of lawmakers’ efforts to find new tax revenue to offset the state government’s huge, recession-driven revenue shortfall.
Significant differences remain with the House over details of that bill.
