Owner of Fat Man’s auto dealership to face corrupt-activity charge

STAFF REPORT

YOUNGSTOWN — The owner of a Canfield Road auto dealership will be in court next Thursday facing a charge of engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity.

Jonathan Smail, 24, Jackson Street, Campbell, turned himself in to authorities Wednesday morning. He is the owner of Fat Man’s Auto Sales that was searched Monday by Boardman police and other law-enforcement officers.

Smail was the third person from the business who was charged.

Michael Mrosko, 32, and Jason Coughlin, 34, were arrested Monday.

Mrosko is charged with engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity. He worked in sales at the business.

Coughlin faces misdemeanor counts of marijuana possession and possession of drug paraphernalia. He worked as a mechanic at the business.

The investigation started in 2008. Mrosko is accused of withholding titles from people who bought vehicles at the business until the vehicles were paid off.

A dealership is supposed to place a lien on a title until it’s paid off.
