Dana School of Music plans fall choral concert

YOUNGSTOWN — “Songs of Love,” the Dana School of Music’s fall choral concert, will be at 8 p.m. Oct. 19 at the Ford Family Recital Hall at DeYor Centre for the Performing Arts. The program is under the direction of Dr. Hae-Jong Lee, who has been director of choral activities at Dana since 2002. Admission is $5 ($4 for senior citizens and students).
The repertoire will include “Five Hebrew Love Songs” by Eric Whitacre and “And So It Goes” by Billy Joel. Featured ensembles are the Dana Chorale, University Chorus, Women’s Chorus and Symphonic Choir, accompanied by Karen Lyn Fisher of Boardman and Kathy Miller of North Lima.
Featured soloists are Katherine Gaggini, soprano (East Brady, Pa.); Natalie Modarelli, mezzo soprano (Austintown); Matt Miles, tenor (Boardman); and Trevor Coleman, baritone (Boardman). Guest instrumentalists include Justine Jones, violin (Moundsville, W.Va.); Shanna Kelly, flute (Butler, Pa.); David Amos, clarinet (Mentor); Eric Jernigan, bass guitar, and Gino West, percussion (New Castle, Pa.); David Gardner (Willard) and Jeffrey Penney (Poland), trumpets; Sarah Baker (Howland) and Kimberly Myers (Hubbard), oboes; and Dan Danch, timpani (New Wilmington, Pa.).
