Trial of former YSU union president postponed until December or January

YOUNGSTOWN — The trial of a former Youngstown State University union president charged with menacing has been postponed until December or January.

Ivan Maldonado, 41, of Boardman, was to go on trial in Youngstown Municipal Court today on the charge but court officials said the case has been delayed.

He is accused of making threatening comments to another member of the Association of Classified Employees union in March while he was still union president. The university placed him on paid administrative leave in March and later fired him.

The ACE union has filed grievances against the university over the firing.
