GIRARD, HUBBARD AND LIBERTY POLICE CALLS
A summary of recent criminal activity in Girard, Hubbard and Liberty:
GIRARD
Oct. 3
Theft: A $250 stereo/compact-disc player was stolen from a vehicle in the 100 block of Elruth Court.
Oct. 4
Menacing: A worker for a U.S. Route 422 restaurant said her former boyfriend made eight unwanted calls, threatening to harm the accuser and her family and damage the business.
Breaking and entering: Nothing was missing from a vehicle someone had entered in the 100 block of Elruth Court.
Oct. 5
Menacing: A Church Hill Road man said a woman drove past his residence and shouted obscenities at his son.
Theft: A laptop computer and a camera were among items stolen from a residence in the 600 block of Trumbull Avenue. The loss was estimated at $1,493.
Arrest: Authorities responded to a suicidal female at an Emma Street home and charged a man, no information provided, with misconduct at the scene of an emergency. Despite having been told the situation was under control, the man on two occasions tried to push past police, then fought with them, a report said.
Theft: A safe at an East Prospect Street residence was pried open, and $2,500 worth of jewelry was missing.
Theft: Someone removed $80 worth of chlorine tablets from a garage in the 600 block of North Ward Avenue.
Oct. 6
Harassment: The owner of a Route 422 business told police a man made numerous harassing calls, interfering with certain functions of the store.
HUBBARD
Oct. 2
Theft: A digital camera was taken from a car on West Park Avenue.
Theft: Someone stole a mailbox from a home in the 200 block of Drummond Avenue.
Fraud: A man told officers the owner of a North Main Street business gave the accuser a fraudulent check.
Theft: Items were removed from a vehicle in the 300 block of Center Street.
Theft: Property was stolen from a car in the 300 block of Stewart Avenue.
Oct. 3
Criminal damaging: The owner of a North Main Street business reported broken beer bottles in the parking lot and said a vehicle had its windshield broken.
Menacing: Two Hubbard residents said a man had threatened them.
Oct. 4
Vandalism: Someone tossed various objects around a Princeton Avenue yard.
Oct. 5
Domestic violence: A township man was charged, accused of punching his brother in the face.
LIBERTY
Oct. 2
Counterfeit: A man inadvertently passed a phony $100 bill at Giant Eagle, 4700 Belmont Ave., though he was not charged with any wrongdoing.
Arrest: Police stopped someone riding his bicycle erratically near Hadley Avenue and charged the 49-year-old Youngstown man with disorderly conduct while intoxicated. He also was wanted on a warrant.
Assault: A 16-year-old boy in the 1000 block of Tibbetts-Wick Road reported having been pushed and threatened while looking at a dog in a kennel.
Theft: A stolen, .380-caliber semiautomatic handgun used in a robbery was recovered in the 900 block of Colonial Drive.
Criminal damaging: Someone threw several large pumpkins and caused $300 worth of damage to a mailbox on Virginia Trail.
Theft: A 41-year-old Youngstown man was detained after a $15 pair of football gloves was stolen from Wal-Mart, 200 Goldie Road.
Theft: A Girard woman, 20, and a Youngstown woman, 30, were detained after $50 worth of jewelry was stolen from Wal-Mart. Neither, however, had been charged at the time of the report.
Oct. 3
Theft: A 14-year-old Campbell girl was detained after a $5 eyeliner was stolen from Wal-Mart.
Recovered property: Officers checked a vehicle in the 400 block of Colonial Drive and learned the 1990 Buick had been stolen in Youngstown.
Theft: A wallet was removed from a car in the 2900 block of Belmont Avenue.
Drug paraphernalia: Authorities investigated a possible drug overdose at a Belmont Avenue motel and charged a Boardman man, 30, with possession of drug paraphernalia. Found were two suspected crack pipes, a spoon with which to prepare drugs and a hypodermic needle, a report showed.
Arrest: A 59-year-old Youngstown man was picked up in the 2700 block of Belmont Avenue. He was wanted on a warrant from the city.
Theft: A wallet was stolen from a shopping cart at a Belmont Avenue store.
Oct. 4
Theft: A Youngstown man, 20, was charged with stealing a video game from Wal-Mart.
Oct. 5
Theft by deception: An Academy Drive woman told officers a West Middlesex, Pa., man promised but failed to finish work for her. The accuser also said he stole computer files, blank contract forms and business cards.
Auto theft: A 2008 Pontiac was stolen from a business in the 3900 block of Belmont Avenue.
Theft: A woman’s purse was missing from her Townsend Avenue home.
Criminal damaging: Someone smashed the front window to a wheel loader at a Wilson Avenue construction company.
Theft by deception: An employee with National College, 3487 Belmont Ave., found out a woman had tried to use the business checking- account number to make a $2,115.40 credit-card payment.
