Canfield shuts out Howland in AAC soccer


CANFIELD — Jordan Ricks had two goals, while Tony El-Hayek, Dylan Seybert and Jon Hutnyan each added a score as Canfield High defeated Howland 5-0 in a boys soccer game on Tuesday.

Hutnyan had two assists and P.J. Stickle assisted on one for Canfield.

Canfield had 18 shots on goal, while the Tigers attempted eight.

Howland goalie Daniel Bedich had three saves and Canfield goalie Mike Thomas had six stops.

JVs: Howland 2-0.

West Branch 3, Carrollton 0

BELOIT — Brian Snoddy scored twice and had an assist to lead West Branch (5-5-2) in a Northeastern Buckeye Conference game.

Dylan Schaeffer had a goal and Darren Salvino an assist for the Warriors, while Conrad Burns had nine saves.

Beaver Local 6, Hubbard 0

HUBBARD — Jordan Fetty had three goals, while Travis Lynch, Kyle Knepper, Toby Manahan had one goal apiece for Beaver Local.

Hubbard’s junior goalie Steve Roose had three saves, while sophomore Tyler Pagley played the second half and had three more stops for the Eagles (3-7). JVs: Hubbard 1-0.

Canton GlenOak 3, Fitch 0

AUSTINTOWN — Scoring three times for the Eagles was Pat Julian.

Fitch goalie Chris Platton had 11 for the Falcons (4-8-1, 1-4 Federal League). GlenOak keeper Spencer Semple stopped two shots.

Newton Falls 2, Struthers 1

STRUTHERS — Brooke Rogers and Rachel Ellis had their second-half at 14:30 and 8:21, respectively, for Newton Falls.

Shannon Montgomery assisted on Rogers’ goal.

Freshman Amber Affagato had the lone goal for Struthers (3-6-3) at the 31-minute mark of the first half to give the Sam Clawson-coached Wildcats a 1-0 lead.
