Howland, Poland post shutouts


SALEM — Alexis Vardavas scored two goals Monday to lead the Howland High girls soccer team past Salem, 2-0.

Olivia Nicholas and Jessica Wilson had assists. Erica Nites made five saves for the Tigers (9-2-1).

For the Quakers (9-3-1), Allison Thompson made five saves.

Poland 6, Hubbard 0

HUBBARD — Tatum Marucci scored three goals as Poland (10-1-1) rolled.

Taylor Marucci, Abbey Chandler and Kelsey Malenic also scored.

Malenic, Jeana Visingardi, Erin Gabriel, Rachael Ames, Chelsea Conzett and Lindey Cooper had assists.

Hubbard goalkeeper Mariah Gordon made 18 saves while Poland’s Abbie Frank stopped two shots.

LEAVITTSBURG — Seniors Sarah Ancell and Alivia Webber scored on Senior Night. Julie Gibson had an assist for the Vikings (9-3-2, 3-2-2 All-American Conference Blue Tier) while goalkeeper Kelsie Daniel made eight saves.

Newton Falls goalkeeper Rebecca Humberger made six saves.

GREENFORD — Katelin Smith, Abby Ausnehmer and Rachel Coler scored goals while goalkeeper Kristin Robinson made seven saves for the Raiders. Crestview goalkeeper Megan Foster stopped 12 shots.

Warren JFK 2, Cleveland St. Joseph’s Academy 2

WARREN — Kellie Guarnieri and Erin McBride scored goals for JFK (11-1-1). Caitlyn Rodomsky and Rachel Lockhart earned assists while Helena Democopoulas made 12 saves.

For St. Joseph’s (8-4-2), Jackie Bova and Farrell O’Malley scored and goalkeeper Sam Zoghieb made 12 saves.

AKRON — Emily Groobert and Breanne Donoghue scored while Amy Vinopal had an assist for the Cardinals (3-7-3). Rachael Letscher made 13 saves for the Cardinals.

NEW WILMINGTON — Holly Lovich scored the goal to pace the Greyhounds. Kennedy Catholic goalkeeper Angela Balint stopped 32 of the 33 shots.

Poland 2, Niles 0

POLAND — Kevin Krumpak and Matt Mrozek scored goals.

Taylor Malaniak assisted on Krumpak’s goal and Cooper Kostelic made two saves for the Bulldogs.

J.J. Crowley made nine saves for Niles.

South Range 5, Crestview 2

COLUMBIANA — Clayton Proch scored three goals while Nathan Lote and Joel Skidmore each added one to lead the Raiders.

Alex DeSalvo and Zack Moore each scored for Crestview while Tyler Ogle and Justin Kleinkurcht had assists.

Darek Bable made 10 saves for Crestview.
