college football roundup \ News and notes
Oklahoma: Receiver Ryan Broyles will be out for two to four weeks with a broken left shoulder blade, starting with this week’s game against Baylor. Broyles leads the Sooners (2-2) with 23 catches for 346 yards and seven touchdowns this season. Stoops also said Heisman Trophy winner Sam Bradford practiced again with the No. 19 Sooners on Monday, but he doesn’t plan to make a decision on whether the quarterback will play until Thursday.
Illinois: Quarterback Juice Williams will be on the bench when Illinois takes on Michigan State on Saturday, a week after he became the all-time leader in offensive production for the Illini. Illini coach Ron Zook told WDWS Radio in Champaign on Monday that backup quarterback Eddie McGee will start over Williams. Zook said he hopes McGee will give the 1-3 Illini (0-2 Big Ten) a spark.
Florida: Quarterback Tim Tebow is reading, watching television, attending class, studying tape and doing everything else he was before his concussion. Except practicing. Florida coach Urban Meyer said Monday his star player has not been cleared to practice or play against fourth-ranked LSU on Saturday night. But Meyer added that the 2007 Heisman Trophy winner is no longer dealing with post-concussion symptoms.
