ABWA speaker discusses needy

YOUNGSTOWN — The Youngstown Charter Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association had its monthly meeting in September at Rusty’s Restaurant.

The speaker, Scott Lewis from the Big Reach Center of Hope, talked about how it is helping families in need with its numerous programs, especially the one that helps children with back-to-school supplies, food, haircuts and clothing.

President Cathy Pokrivnak began the meeting by presenting outgoing president Susan Morrell of Poland with a gift and thanks.

The annual nut and candy fundraiser will take place in November and run through the holidays.

The American Business Women’s Association has several chapters in the tri-county area and is known for its generosity, donating $500,000 collectively in college scholarships to local students since its inception in 1954.
