Salvation Army begins applications today for Christmas assistance

YOUNGSTOWN — The Salvation Army is taking applications for Christmas assistance in Trumbull, Mahoning and Columbiana counties.

All households meeting eligibility requirements are welcome to apply. Each will receive a food voucher. Children 12 and under at the time of application will be given toys.

Eligibility requirements are as follows:

Applicants must be a resident of the county where applying

Total household income must be at or below 200 percent of the federal poverty level.

Valid picture ID for person making application and picture IDs for all people in the household 18 and older.

Social Security cards for all people in the household

Proof of guardianship for children 12 and under (medical and insurance cards may be used)

Birth Certificates or court guardianship papers for all children 12 and under.

Applicants will be asked to sign an income verification form affirming that their total household income is at or below 200 percent of the federal poverty level.

Trumbull County:

Today, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday - 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Today - 5:30 to 7 p.m. by appointment only.

Oct. 16 - noon to 6:00 p.m.

Nov. 2 - 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m.

Nov. 4 - 9 a.m. to noon, 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 9 p.m.

Make-up day: Nov. 9, 5 to 9 p.m.
