Blackout: For the first time in the program’s history, Mount Union wore black pants. The pants matched the black jerseys and the fans were encouraged to wear black as well.
National media: Pat Coleman, editor of D3football.com, attended the game. It was his first time covering a Mount Union night game for the Web site, which is considered the No. 1 source for Division III football.
The series: This was the 48th meeting between the Purple Raiders and Yellow Jackets, dating to 1896. Mount Union has won 15 straight contests in the series and holds a 26-21-1 advantage.
Big weekend: On Friday, Mount Union dedicated two new facilities - the McPherson Academic and Athletic and the LEED-certified Gartner Welcome Center will house the Office of Admission and Office of Student Financial Services. It was also homecoming weekend for the college.
Home cooking: Mount Union has won 33 straight home games and are 74-2 at Mount Union Stadium since the start of the 2000 season.
Up next: Mount Union (4-0, 3-0 OAC) will travel to Capital (4-0, 3-0) next week for a battle of unbeatens at 1:30 p.m.
