Program about flu set by study group

BOARDMAN — Youngstown Homeopathic Study Group will conduct a meeting on the prevention and treatment of flu at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Greenbriar, 8064 South Ave., where meetings are the first Wednesday of each month.

Fall puzzle exchange

SALEM — Salem Public Library will conduct a jigsaw puzzle exchange from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Quaker Room. Jigsaws for the exchange will be accepted during business hours daily through Friday. Donors will receive one ticket for each puzzle. Tickets will be used to select puzzles free at the exchange. Community Safety Day planned in Columbiana

COLUMBIANA — Columbiana Fire Department will host its 3rd annual Community Safety Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the fire station on South Vine Street. There will be live demonstrations, vehicle exhibits, free blood pressure screenings, educational information, and free food.

Columbiana municipal Electric Department will conduct a free mercury thermometer exchange and collect unbroken florescent light bulbs to be recycled. Take mercury thermometers or switches in original cases or two sealed plastic bags.

Volunteer artists needed for global art project

BOARDMAN — The Davis Family YMCA, 45 McClurg Road, will host “An Afternoon of the Arts” from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Saturday. The free public event will feature an art exhibit, professional artists at work, dance demonstrations, a puppet show, poetry readings, live music, kids’ crafts and more.

In conjunction with the event, Suzanne Bort Gray, artist and international volunteer for the Global Art Project for Peace, is inviting people to participate in creating a montage comprising 1,000 separate images. Civil War lecture set at the Bond House

CANFIELD — The public is invited to a free lecture on the Civil War by Debra Wagner of Austintown at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Bond House, 44 W. Main St.

Sue Bell and Suzie McCabe will be hosts for this lecture, the second in a series of fall lectures to be presented by Canfield Historical Society.
