Thanksgiving baskets sought for those in need

YOUNGSTOWN — Catholic Charities Regional Agency, 2401 Belmont Ave., seeks baskets of food for a Thanksgiving Dinner for those in need. Gift cards to local grocery stores also will be accepted.

Kennedy Road closing for culvert replacement

POLAND — Kennedy Road in Poland Township will be closed Tuesday through Friday west of Nelson Road for a culvert replacement, the Mahoning County Engineer’s Office has announced. Traffic will be detoured along Quarry Road, U.S. Route 224 and Struthers Road.

Christmas assistance applications accepted

WARREN — Catholic Charities Regional Agency, 175 Laird Ave. N.E., will be accepting applications for Christmas assistance for needy children in Trumbull County by appointment only.

Applications will be taken on a first come, first served basis. Applicants must call (330) 393-4254 the week of Oct. 12 to set an appointment.

Applicants must provide photo identification, proof of income for everyone in the home, proof of monthly rent and utility bills, medical cards or birth certificates for all children in the home and Social Security cards for all persons living in the household.

Any person or group may contact the agency to become a sponsor for a family or child.

State Route 518 closing for culvert work

WEST POINT — State Route 518 will be closed Tuesday, weather permitting, west of West Point in Columbiana County for a culvert replacement.

The work will be performed by ODOT’s Columbiana County maintenance crew and is expected to take three days to complete.

Beginning at the intersection of state Route 518 and U.S. 30, traffic will be detoured west on U.S. 30 to state Route 164 in Lisbon, then south on state Route 164 back to state Route 518, and the reverse.
