Bowling Association honors Chicase, Traylor


YOUNGSTOWN — Marla Chicase and Pat Traylor will be honored when the Youngstown-Salem USBC Women’s Bowling Association holds its 42nd achievement awards dinner and 33rd Hall of Fame induction this evening at the ITAM Centre on Meridian Road.

A social hour begins at 5 p.m.

During the Hall of Fame ceremony, Chicase will be inducted into the achievement category, while Traylor will be inducted into the Star of Yesteryear category.

The association will also recognize women’s accomplishments from the 2008-2009 bowling season.

Chicase (Achievement)

Highest average of 237. In 2002, was first in the nation for WIBC.

Bowled in 21 Youngstown Women’s Bowling Association city tournaments, 22 Ohio women’s association tournaments and three nationals.

Highest three-game series of 805 and 15 perfect games.

Has also had twelve 299 games and six 800s. Her first 300 was in 1995 in the Wedgewodo Ladies Trio and her first 300 in a men’s league was in 1997 in the KTRE Classic at Colonial.

Bowled in the Queens Tournament several times with a high finish of seventh. Chicase won the Van Wert Open in 1999 and the Columbus Open in 2000.

She was a regional touring player for nine years and on the national tour for five. In 2003, Marla was the points leader and bowler of the year.

Bowled on teams scoring national records in 1995, 1996, 1997 and 1998 with teammates Su Bachinger, Michele Mineo, Paula Pecorelli and Carol Pennington.

In 1994, won the YWBA city tournament’s all-evens with 1797. In 1993, 1995, 2001, 2002 and 2003, won the YWBA city team actual with scores of 2768, 2092, 2354, 2629 and 2449. In 1995, teamed with Paula Pecorelli to win the city doubles actual with 1299.

In 2008, won the Youngstown-Salem USBC women’s city doubles handicap with Julie Hrebovcin with 1540 and doubles actual with Carol Pennington with 1466. In the doubles event Chicase had the high individual game of 300.

In 2009, was runnerup in the OWBA Buckeye Belle Tournament’s actual division with 901.

In the Warren Women’s Bowling Association, Marla had high average of 216 and 213 and also won city tournament team actual and all-events.

Numerous time, Chicase has placed in YWBA division categories with high games and series and has been in the top eight averages for the past 18 years.

Traylor (Star of Yesteryear)

Highest average of 165, highest three-game series of 665 and high game of 288.

Bowled in 29 YWBA city tournaments, two Ohio Women’s Bowling Assn. state tournaments and one national.

In 1985, Pat began to organize teams to bowl in the Youngstown association’s city tournaments and, in 1987, organized 10-12 teams to bowl in the OWBA state tournaments.

In 1984, organized the Southern Tavern Mixed League and has been its secretary for 25 years. In 2001, organized the Bowling Nanas Senior Ladies League and has been its secretary-treasurer. In 1995, Traylor was the YWBA secretary of the year.

Was the YWBA officers tournament champion in 1994 with 722 and, for 1996-1997, Traylor placed third in the 150-169 average category with a 665 series for which she received an OWBA award.

In 2005, rolled 674 to win Class D in the YWBA senior tournament and, in 2008, won Class C with 684.

Won the 500 Club’s “Bring A Friend” tournament with Ida Barron.

Served as director for 14 years and member emeritus since 2006. Inducted into the Ebony Lifeline Sports Hall of Fame in 2004.
