Wittenberg 70, Hiram 7

SPRINGFIELD — Wittenberg (4-0, 2-0 NCAC) scored on all but two possessions. The Terriers drop to 0-4, 0-2. Corey Weber’s 71-yard run put the Tigers ahead 7-0.

The Tigers scored six more times in the first half, including a 55-yard TD run by Weber. Hiram’s points came in the fourth quarter on a 15-yard TD pass play from freshman quarterback Tyler Hendrickson to sophomore wide receiver Clayton Moore. Wittenberg recorded 549 yards of total offense, including 394 yards on the ground. Hiram was held to just 126 yards of offense (56 rushing and 70 passing) for the game.

Thiel 24, Westminster 21

GREENVILLE, Pa.— The teams combined for 24 points in the final 2:02 including Thiel kicking a walk-off field goal. Thiel’s John Madeline hit a 46-yard field goal as time expired. The Titans fall to 1-4 on the season and 0-2 in the PAC while the Tomcats improve to 2-3, 1-1. Westminster senior tailback Nick McKolosky rushed 25 times for 102 yards including a 1-yard touchdown run to tie the game at 14-14 with 2:02 remaining. Thiel quarterback Willie Bova hit a streaking Brendan Taylor for an 86-yard touchdown. Westminster rallied to tie the game as the Titans went 62 yards on six plays. Senior quarterback Kevin Franz scrambling and then floating an 18-yard touchdown pass to senior receiver Jon Gubish with 23 seconds on the clock. Bova finished with 304 yards on 22-of-33 passing with no interceptions and two touchdowns. Gorgano led the Tomcats with eight catches for 67 yards and a score and Taylor caught six balls for 151 yards and a touchdown.

Grove City 41, Saint Vincent 20

GROVE CITY, Pa. — Grove City (2-3) celebrated Homecoming with the 100th win for head coach for head coach Chris Smith. Grove City limited Saint Vincent (0-5) to just 27 yards rushing and 12 first downs for the game. Grove City also recorded four sacks and forced a pair of fumbles. Senior quarterback Andrew DiDonato became the College’s all-time leader in total offense. DiDonato threw for 226 yards and also ran for 25 yards, giving him 7,562 career yards of total offense. He surpassed the mark of 7,353, set by R.J. Bowers from 1997 to 2000.

Slippery Rock 17, Mercyhurst 16

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. — Redshirted sophomore wide receiver Devin Goda caught a 31-yard touchdown pass from redshirt sophomore quarterback Rocco Colavecchia with 5:10 remaining for the winning points. The Rock improved its overall season record to 5-1 and its PSAC-West mark to 2-1. The Rock is now 18-4 in SRU Homecoming games played under head coach George Mihalik. The loss dropped Mercyhurst’s records to 3-3, 2-1.

Thomas More 40, Bethany 12

CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. — Thomas More raced to a 20-0 halftime lead and never looked back in a Homecoming victory. The Bison were able to reach midfield on their opening drive, but a short punt gave the Saints (4-0, 3-0) the ball at the BC 48. Seven plays later, Thomas More QB Trevor Stellman tossed the first of his four scoring passes, an eight-yard connection with Nick Olthaus for a 7-0 TMC advantage. Thomas More’s next two scores came barely two minutes apart in the second quarter.
