Ursuline runs past Aquinas

LOUISVILLE — Senior Allen Jones carried five times for 146 yards and three touchdowns as the Ursuline High football team had no trouble with St. Thomas Aquinas, rolling to a 50-7 win on Friday.

Paul Kempe completed 3 of 5 passes for 106 yards and two TDs, one on a 72-yarder to junior Akise Teague and the other a 20-yard pass to Jake Dragovich, both in the first quarter.

Aaron Edwards and Shannon Hightower had the other two TD runs for the Irish (3-2). Nico Irizarry had one carry for 46 yards, Aaron Page had five carries for 47 yards and Jermaine Williams carried five times for 21 yards.

“I think our O-line played really well,” said Irish coach Dan Reardon. “They blitzed two or three linebackers on every play and they handled it well. That made it easy for our backs.

“Once they get to the line of scrimmage, there wasn’t a whole lot else back there.

Ursuline, which was off last week, plays its first home game of the season next weekend.

“Our North American road tour has come to an end,” said Reardon, whose team has played in Columbus, Wheeling, W.Va., Mentor, Bedford and Louisville so far. “Friday is our Senior Night and our home opener. That’s got to be some sort of record.”

Sean Dempsey ran for 48 yards, including a 31-yard TD, and also had two catches for 14 yards to lead the Knights (1-5), who managed just 133 yards of offense.
