The 6-1, 215-pound junior quarterback completed 17 of 23 passes for 105 yards and a TD and ran 18 times for 106 yards and a TD as Salem beat Liberty 15-9 on Friday.
Quotable: “It’s a new feeling, new excitement, new everything. Same guys, mostly. There’s a lot of new attitudes. I think this probably the first year we’ve actually had everybody. There’s not a lot of injuries.
“We’ve got a good sophomore class that came over and we’re starting a lot of sophomores. It’s legit this year.
“We have a lot of athletes, just some of the athletes didn’t play football or played soccer. But this year we have pretty much all the athletes playing football except for a couple.
“We’d like to win out [in the second half of the season]. Realistically, there’s not a game that we can’t win. They’re all going to be tough, they’re all good teams.”
