Youngstown woman enjoyed experience as contestant on TV’s ‘The Price Is Right’

Sarah Wakefield of Youngstown didn’t win the big money on “The Price Is Right.” But she considers the experience priceless.
Wakefield, 25, could be seen as a contestant on the game show Wednesday morning on WKBN-TV.
She was called down out of the audience with others to bid on a set of golf clubs. Her bid was the closest in the group, and she got to keep the clubs and move on to the stage with host Drew Carey. There, she played for a backyard barbeque/entertainment station.
“I played SqueezePlay, the game where they gave you the numbers, and you have to choose which one to take out, then they squeeze the remaining numbers together,” said Wakefield.
“Unfortunately, I picked the wrong number to take out. I didn’t win the prize, but I did get to spin the wheel ... but unfortunately, I went over!
“So I didn’t have much luck once I made it on stage, but it was still one of the coolest experiences I’ve had!”
Wakefield is an economic assistant with the U.S. Department of Labor and an instructor at Youngstown State University. Thursday’s “Price Is Right” show was taped in June in Los Angeles, where Wakefield traveled while on vacation.
