Westminster theater to present ‘Rabbit Hole’

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – Theatre Westminster will present David Lindsay-Abaire’s “Rabbit Hole” Oct. 8-11 in Beeghly Theater. The student production is directed by theater professor Scott Mackenzie.

The 2007 Pulitzer Prize-winning drama tells the story of Becca and Howie Corbett, who have everything a family could want until a life-shattering accident turns their world upside down and leaves the couple drifting apart. “Rabbit Hole” charts their search for comfort.

Curtain times are 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Oct. 11. Tickets are $7 ($5 for seniors and students) and are available at westminster.edu/drama, or by calling (724) 946-7241.

‘60s rock show host Clay Cole to sign book

HUBBARD — Clay Cole, who hosted a rock ’n’ roll television program in New York in the late 1950s and 1960s, will return to his hometown of Hubbard on Saturday for a book-signing from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Soaring Eagle office, 105 N. Main St.

Cole, whose real name is Al Rucker Jr., graduated from Hubbard High School in 1955. His new book, “Sh-Boom: The Explosion of Rock ’n’ Roll,” chronicles the early rock era from 1953 to 1968.

KSU art exhibition

WARREN — The works of more than 20 faculty members and graduate students at Kent State University School of Art are on view at Trumbull Art Gallery, 198 E. Market St. An opening reception will be at 2 p.m. Sunday. The exhibition closes Nov. 14.

Titled “Touch and Scale,” the show features dozens of pieces, including drawing on paper, glazed ceramic bowls and enamel on metal. Painting, printmaking and weaving also are represented. The exhibition is curated by Janice Lessman-Moss, head of the KSU textile department.

Opera concert

YOUNGSTOWN — Members of Opera Western Reserve will present an hourlong concert at St. Patrick Church, 1420 Oak Hill Ave., at 1 p.m. Sunday. Performers will include Carrie Minenok and Max Pivik. Fall festival, tours

BERLIN CENTER — Berlin Center Historical Society’s annual Fall Festival will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the The Weidenmeyer House and Fire Department on Route 224, just west of route 534. This year’s festival also will be a bicentennial celebration. Events will include pie baking and bicycle-decorating contests, quilt raffle and free appraisals of antiques.

Watercolor sale

NILES — Art Outreach Gallery in the Eastwood Mall is the location of an art exhibition and sale by the Mahoning Valley Watercolor Society. The exhibition, which is now under way, runs through Nov. 8. Admission is free.
