Employee douses fire at St. E’s in Boardman

BOARDMAN— The cause of a fire in a soiled linen room on the third floor of St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center remains under investigation.

No one was injured in the fire about 9 a.m. today. The hospital’s alarm system had been turned off for repair so when an employee who discovered the flames pulled the alarm it didn’t sound, according to firefighters.

An employee used an extinguisher to knock down the small fire and called hospital security who called the fire department.

The hospital remains open.
