20 animals rescued from Struthers home

STRUTHERS — Humane agents along with Struthers police took 20 animals off a Seventh Street woman Thursday.

Humane agent Joe Borosky said his warrant at the house was executed at 12:20 p.m. He described the woman, who has not yet been charged, as a repeat offender who has another animal neglect case pending in Struthers court.

Borosky said law enforcement removed 10 birds, three rats, three rabbits, two cats and two dogs. Their general health is poor, he said, including flea infestation and dehydration.

The animals will receive medical attention at Animal Charity, he said. They are not the same animals from the pending case. Those animals were removed and she did not get them back, he said.

Borosky said he anticipates charging the woman after he talks to the city prosecutor.

He said he acted on a complaint received by the city’s safety services director Wednesday.
