We’re killing ourselves here

There was a good letter to the editor, “Political correctness is destroying us from within” in the Nov. 20 Vindicator, but it’s not just the Army that is guilty of PC. The next day, there was a page one story about Youngstown’s holiday parade. They even admit it used to be called the Youngstown Christmas parade, but they did not give a reason for changing the name. Could it be political correctness?

Who are they afraid of offending? Are they afraid of the ACLU? Probably 90 percent of the people of Youngstown metropolitan area would approve the parade being referred to as the Christmas parade. As to the other 10 percent, tough.

To The Vindicator’s credit, it did report that the “Christmas tree” would be lit and that Santa Claus ...gasp... a saint would be there. However I have read recently where The Vindicator referred to the Christmas tree as the holiday tree.

We are destroying our society from within as we have political correctness wackos right here in Youngstown. Merry Christmas.
