Surprise party honors Giancolas for anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Giancola
STRUTHERS — Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Giancola of Struthers, who married Oct. 31, 1959, at Holy Trinity Church, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary during a surprise party on Oct. 24 at The Elm Tree.
The festivity was hosted by their children, Keith (Robin) Giancola, David (Lori) Giancola, Lisa (Jeff) Janci and Carla (Alan) Atkinson.
Also participating in planning the party were their grandchildren, Melinda, Allison, Maddy, Carly, David and Nick Giancola, and Barbara Atkinson.
Mr. Giancola served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War stationed aboard the destroyer USS Power. He worked for Ohio Bell Telephone Co., was manager of Lincoln Bowling Lanes for 13 years and retired from General Motors in 1997 after 27 years of service.
Mrs. Giancola was employed by Packard Electric. She is a volunteer for Humility of Mary Health Partners in the diabetes education department and has accumulated more then 8,000 hours of volunteer service.
The couple are members of St. Nicholas Church, where they were honored at the 9:30 a.m. Mass on Oct. 25.
