YWCA renovation project needs community support

YOUNGSTOWN — The YWCA of Youngstown is in the midst of a multimillion dollar capital campaign to renovate its historic building, which has stood at 25 W. Rayen Ave. since 1912.

In keeping with the project, the YWCA is searching for photos or stories that contain important historical information or fond memories about the building and the organization.

Over the years, the YWCA has meant different things to different people. It has been a safe haven for women and families, a place to meet friends for fellowship, learning and fun; a venue to gain knowledge and life skills; and a place to help women from all walks of life get back on track personally or professionally. Anyone who has been part of the YWCA family is encouraged to get involved in the project.

Anyone with a story or photo to share, no matter how big or small or how old, is asked to consider submitting it to the YWCA. For a phone interview, call (330) 746-6361, and a staff member will write the story for you. It can also be sent by fax to (330) 747-6360. Photos can be e-mailed or scanned, and the original will be returned.
