LEGO League practice scrimmage at mall

NILES — The Art Outreach Gallery and Eastwood Mall Complex will host the FIRST LEGO League practice scrimmage from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 5 in the community room between Dillard’s and Macy’s. Area high school FIRST robotics teams will be on hand to demonstrate their robots.

Each year, FLL teams of students (ages 9-14) build and program LEGO MINDSTORMS robots to navigate a playing field and complete a variety of theme-bases missions. The year’s challenge theme is the transportation-based “Smart Move.”

Teams from Trumbull, Ashtabula and Mahoning County middle schools have been invited to the scrimmage, which will help prepare the local teams for competition at one of two official FLL regional competitions Dec. 12 in Canton and Cleveland.
