CROSSING THE LINES: Ohio Edison crews and Youngstown firefighters work to repair downed power lines across the top of a semitractor-trailer in the southbound lane of Market Street. YOUNGSTOWN — Ohio Edison work crews were busy repairing electrical lines and supporting poles in the Uptown area of Market Street after a truck pulled the low-hanging wires down.
Capt. Barry Finley of the Youngstown Fire Department said the semitractor-trailer was traveling along Market Street on Wednesday morning and pulled down wires that were left hanging low after a car accident last week. Two poles supporting the wires were left bent after the wires were pulled down.
Finley said the electrical wires were across the truck when firefighters arrived, but no one was injured.
The downed wires knocked out power to various parts of the Market Street area including a traffic light at Market Street and Dewey Avenue. Traffic had to be diverted to smaller side streets for several hours.
