KEY WEST, Fla. — The wedding of Melissa Ferreira and Christopher Kalavsky took place at 5:30 p.m. July 3 at the Ernest Hemingway Home and Museum with the Rev. Dave Gonzalez solemnizing the ceremony.

The bride is a daughter of Corine Ferreira of Pretoria, South Africa. Mr. Kalavsky is the son of Steven and Carol Kalavsky, 5510 Tracy Drive, Youngstown.

A reception followed at the same location, and the groom’s parents hosted a postnuptial reception Sept. 5 at Mastropietro Winery in Berlin Center. The couple took a belated honeymoon to South Africa in November and live at 1500 Carey Lane, Silver Spring, Md.

The bride wore a satin side-draped A-line gown that featured a beaded lace bodice and tiered skirt with a chapel train.

Maid of honor was Christine Zingl of Vienna, Austria, who wore an eggplant-colored gown. Katie Hall of St. Louis, the groom’s niece, was flower girl. She wore a pink gown.

Matt Mulichak of Akron performed the duties of best man.

Mrs. Kalavsky graduated from Towson University in Severn, Md., with a degree in elementary and special education and is a special-education teacher with the Anne Arundel County Public School in Severn.

Her husband holds a degree in international studies from Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green and is an account manager with Public Broadcasting Service in Arlington, Va.
